A sprint triathlon is a great goal. And you are giving yourself plenty of time to train.
For me, having races on the calendar have kept me honest and motivated to continue to exercise.
I did my first mini tri a year and a half ago after being sedentary for a lot of years. If I can do it, you can do it! Best of luck with your training.

This is a really fun way to motivate yourself to lose weight - maybe not the best for me, since I am a girl. But you have definitely inspired me to think of a fun way to remind myself. Thanks!

Changing the way we do things is one of the most difficult things to do. When we do something for the first time, we try to find a rhythm and adapt ourselves to it. But once we adapt to it, we become comfortable and there is inertia that hinders us from change.

Hello finished being fat man,
I recently stumble upon one of your YouTube video. It was one that you did in January when you lost 5 lbs. I too am finished being fat. Seeing your videos are inspiring but I think best of all is this post. Reason being is that you reverted tsp your old ways again. But you are still going. Yes I know that sounds crazy but it makes me feel better that I am not the only one who fails many many times after promising myself this will be the time I get fit. Anyway thank you for your motivation. Wish you were my work out buddy.

I am in full support of the first four movies.

Karate Kid inspired my childhood, Rocky IV inspired my pre-teen years, Shawshank Redemption inspired my college years, and 300 has inspired my time in the gym.

You're right, the Rocky IV montage is the best ever.

Never saw the last two movies, but I'll add them to the list.

Dan, you have at least one reader cheering you on. I'll be checking in, even though I'm a relative "skinny." (Under 120, 5' 6" woman who's a size two.) Anyone trying to get in better shape is my hero.
